Chicken Soup: An old wives tale?

January 19, 2009 · 1 comment

Today, my mom suggested that I eat some chicken soup to help me feel better (I refuse to admit I am sick, because I never get sick). “It isn’t just an old wives tale, it actually works” she said. Although I humored her at the time, I’ve since been proven wrong by the great and wise Google. Search for: chicken soup health benefits.

Apparently it does work…at least to alleviate the symptoms (though not necessarily to cure them). Touche mom. Touche.

But what if you’re a vegetarian or vegan? Must you go on suffering the horrible ills of this common disease?

If you have a wonderful holistic doctor like mine, she will prescribe a bunch of stuff I call “Affensaft” or “Monkey Juice” which is very vegan friendly but could also land you in urgent care for some true antibiotics!
