Two separate people forwarded me a recent article appearing in The Consumerist: New Survey Says Less Than 20% Of Consumers Trust Food Supply. Yes. Ridiculous.
The link also contains a quick video highlighting the problem with our food supply chain, which includes the incredible fact:

Also interesting to note that two foods that had the highest premium charged (as compared to their non-organic counterparts) were spinach and lettuce. Think that had anything to do with the e coli scare we had in 2006?

I spent some time playing around on google trends recently, and in addition to the disturbing upward trend of people googling the term diahhrea (it has doubled since Google started keeping track - doesn’t that say something about our eating habits?), I discovered that the graph for “food poisoning” is actually quite interesting:

Time for another stats post! Last week I overheard that people tend to get sicker around the holidays because they eat less healthily. Seems like something that we can prove with statistics, right? Here we go.
